Collection: MERIK Controlled Substances Safes

TL Safes should be the foundational element of your physical security system because these safes are built to resist intense burglary attacks longer than almost any other safes on the market.

Note: All functions, lock programming, and operations are centrally controlled by the digital touch keypad with the display screen.  User access or user exclusions can be created for each manager and user.

Several interior options are below. Many other interior options are available.

Individually Locked Compartments and Drawers: Steel compartments and drawers, each with its own time delay lock is programmed from the keypad, can be programmed individually or collectively.

Time Delays by Specific Compartments and Drawers: Management can program individual drawers or compartments, or all drawers with a time delay from 1-99 seconds.  One compartment or drawer opened at any time is the standard configuration but the compartments or drawers can be re-programmed to have multiple drawers or compartments open at the same time.

Time Lock Interval: Management can program a time interval in which each or all drawers can be locked out to individual users.

Users: The unit accommodates multiple users.  Each user can have a unique PIN number.  The system can be programmed to allow or deny access to individual users for specific functions: access to all or some drawers; with or without time delay; and lockout with a time lock.

Audit Feature: 1,100 events can be read from the display screen.  An Optional computer download feature is available.

MERIK Safes manufactured to conform to DEA Controlled Substance Secure Storage Guidelines

NOTE: It is necessary and important to check with your local authority to confirm that guidelines and the safes of your choice are in accordance with Federal, State, County, or City guidelines prior to purchasing a safe.

  • General storage rule - All controlled substances must be stored behind at least two differently keyed locks at all times. For combination lock lockboxes or safes... Only the registrant and as few responsible individuals as possible should know the combination. Whenever anyone who knows the combination is terminated from employment, the combination(s) must be changed.

  • Schedule I and II substances - Must be stored in a safe or steel cabinet of substantial construction. If the safe or cabinet is less than 750 lbs., it must be mounted or secured to something of substantial construction (e.g., bolted to a wall or the floor, or the base embedded in concrete). The safe/cabinet should have an inner and outer door with the locks for each door keyed differently.

  • Schedule III, IV, and V controlled substances - Can be stored with Schedule I and II substances in a safe or steel cabinet of substantial construction as noted above.
