When making arrangements to have your safe or vault delivered make sure that the company delivering and installing your safe or vault is bonded and insured. Handling safes from 500 to 5,000 pounds requires proper moving equipment, tools, and most of all experience. We all know that "stuff" happens. Experienced safe installers know the tricks of the trade that would make a very tough job a bit easier and much safer. Climbing steps, making ramps on-site, navigating narrow hallways, removing the pallet from the 2,500 pound safe sits on, and bolting down a safe properly is much more difficult than anticipated and will often create insurmountable obstacles for the do-it-yourselfer. Additionally PLEASE consider the real possibility of the inexperienced installer getting seriously hurt.
In order to have the proper protection make certain the installer or company making the delivery is experienced at making safe deliveries and installations, and carries insurance of at least one million dollars per occurance. Sadly if they don’t have adequate coverage for property damage or if one of their workers sustains an injury, you don’t want to be the one that an injured party's attorney turns to for compensation. Deal with reputable safe dealers and installers... and always ask for a certificate of insurance before they attempt to deliver and install your safe.
